The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends using one-on-one education to increase colorectal cancer screening with fecal occult blood testing. In these interventions, health care workers, other health professionals, lay health advisors, and volunteers give people information by phone or in person about the need for screening. The interventions also include information on the benefits of screening and ways to overcome barriers. CPSTF found insufficient evidence to determine whether one-on-one education increases colorectal cancer screening with colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy.
