The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force found insufficient evidence to assess whether the benefits of behavioral counseling in primary care settings to prevent illegal drug use in children, adolescents, and young adults outweigh the harms. For the purposes of this recommendation, illegal drug use includes nonmedical use of prescription drugs.
