The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends publicized sobriety checkpoint programs to reduce drunk driving. In these programs, law enforcement officers systematically stop drivers to test them for alcohol impairment. Media efforts to publicize sobriety checkpoints are an important part of these programs.
