The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends combining 2 school-based interventions — meal or fruit and vegetable snack interventions and physical activity interventions — to improve healthy behaviors of students in kindergarten through grade 6. Meal or fruit and vegetable snack interventions provide healthier food and drinks and limit less healthy options for students. Physical activity interventions have students do physical activity each day. When combined, these interventions successfully help students have healthier weights.
