The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends offering interventions to prevent tobacco use in school-aged children and adolescents who haven’t used tobacco before. These interventions can include education and different types of brief counseling. USPSTF found insufficient evidence to assess whether the benefits of these interventions outweigh the harms for children and adolescents who already use tobacco.
