The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends interventions in outdoor work settings to prevent skin cancer in people who work outdoors. These interventions include at least 1 of the following:
- Educational approaches, like giving people information about sun protection
- Activities designed to influence people’s knowledge, attitudes, or behaviors, like modeling sun-protective behaviors
- Environmental approaches, like providing sunscreen or shade
- Policies, like requiring sun-protective clothing
CPSTF found that these interventions increase people’s sun-protective behaviors and reduce sunburns.
