Are you a recent graduate interested in health promotion, physical activity, or health policy? The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) is seeking applicants for three Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) fellowship opportunities.
• Health Policy Fellowships – The Community Strategies Division seeks two participants with a background in public health and health policy to be involved in the Healthy People initiative. The participant will be trained in all aspects of Healthy People, including management and implementation of the current decade’s objectives (Healthy People 2020) and the development and launch of the next decade’s objectives (Healthy People 2030). Participants will participate in meetings with senior HHS officials and have an opportunity to interact with leading experts including those focused on disease prevention, public health, and health statistics from across HHS. Participants will receive professional training at the national level, gain first-hand knowledge of how policy is formulated, and personally contribute to initiatives of national importance. • Prevention Science Fellowship – This fellow will join the Division of Prevention Science to support the dissemination and implementation of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd edition and the National Youth Sports Strategy. The fellow will work with a team to collaborate across Federal agencies and outside organizations to identify opportunities to promote youth sports participation through partnerships, community workshops, and engagement with the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition and its Science Board. The fellow will also support dissemination of the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and expansion of the Move Your Way communications campaign. Applications to this position will be reviewed on a rolling basis and close January 13, 2020.
Appointments are full-time at HHS in the Rockville, Maryland, area. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Initial fellowship appointments can be up to one year, and may be renewed upon recommendation of HHS contingent on the availability of funds.
