Registration is now open for the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee’s Draft Report Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. EDT via webcast. The meeting will include updates on the Committee’s draft conclusion statements posted online, and Committee deliberations and decisions regarding their draft advisory report.
Submit public comments now! The period to submit comments to the 2020 Committee that opened in March of 2019 will close on June 10, 2020.
The Committee will finalize their advisory report based on the comments received and Committee discussion at the meeting. They will then submit their final report to the Secretaries of USDA and HHS. USDA and HHS will post the final report online, send out a public notification, and open a new public comment period for the Departments to accept comments on the Committee’s report. This action is expected on or around July 15, 2020.
USDA and HHS will consider the Committee’s report, along with public and agency comments, as the Departments develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for release by the end of this year.
