Summary

Lung cancer is one of the most common and deadly cancers in the United States. Although lung cancer death rates have decreased in recent years, there are significant disparities by sex and race/ethnicity. Evidence shows that screening and interventions to prevent tobacco initiation and help people quit smoking can help lower the number of lung cancer deaths.
