Increase the proportion of adults with diagnosed diabetes who have an annual eye exam
Data Source: National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), CDC/NCHS
Summary
Diabetic retinopathy, a type of diabetic eye disease, is the leading cause of new cases of blindness in working-age adults in the United States. But many people with diabetes, especially in minority populations, don’t get yearly eye exams. Regular eye exams can help prevent vision loss by finding diabetic retinopathy early, when it’s usually easier to treat.
