Increase the proportion of adolescents who participate in daily school physical education — ECBP‑01 Data Methodology and Measurement

About the National Data

Data

Baseline: 29.9 percent of students in grades 9 through 12 participated in daily school physical education in 2017

Target: 39.0 percent

Numerator
Number of students in grades 9 through 12 who attended physical education classes on 5 days in an average week when they were in school.
Denominator
Number of students in grades 9 through 12.
Target-setting method
Minimal statistical significance
Target-setting method details
Minimal statistical significance, assuming the same standard error for the target as for the baseline.
Target-setting method justification
Trend data were evaluated for this objective, but it was not possible to project a target because the data have had little change over time. The standard error was used to calculate a target based on minimal statistical significance, assuming the same standard error for the target as for the baseline. This method was used because the Healthy People 2030 Workgroup Subject Matter Experts expected the data to continue to be difficult to change.

History
