In this Cochrane systemic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that micro-invasive treatments — installing a barrier — can significantly reduce tooth decay progression in children and adults. The review included studies that compared micro-invasive treatments to non-invasive treatments — fluoride varnish and flossing. Further studies are needed to determine which micro-invasive treatment techniques work best.
