Summary

The earlier young people get treatment for depression, the more effective it can be. Early treatment can also help prevent more severe, long-term problems as children and adolescents get older. But many adolescents with depression don’t get treatment. Treatment plans that connect primary care providers, patients, and mental health specialists can help adolescents get the care they need.
