Summary

Asthma is the most common chronic lung disease in children. Children under 5 years are more likely than other age groups to go to the emergency department because of asthma. Reducing environmental triggers, teaching caregivers about asthma, and making sure children get the right medications can help reduce emergency department visits for asthma.
