Summary

Millions of people in the United States have asthma, and many of them go to the emergency department because of an asthma attack. Teaching people with asthma and their caregivers how to manage asthma can help prevent asthma attacks. Making sure people with asthma get the right medications can also help reduce emergency department visits for asthma.
