Summary
Older adults are more likely to get pneumonia and to be hospitalized for it. Pneumonia is also a leading cause of death for older adults. Making sure older adults get flu and pneumococcal vaccines and encouraging people to quit smoking can help reduce hospital admissions for pneumonia.
